Vietnamese American War Memorial Dedication

Cathedral OKC on July 13, 2017

The building of the Vietnam War Memorial Monument for Vietnamese and American Heroes was dedicated July 8, 2017. It was the culmination of many years of planning, fund raising and praying for this to come to our city. The memorial represents those who fought, suffered, were imprisoned and also those who survived the war torn Communist Vietnam. Millions of Vietnamese civilians and Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces soldiers, and more than 58,000 US Servicemen and Servicewomen, including 978 Oklahomans sacrificed their lives for freedom during the Vietnam War.
Thank you to those who helped bring this to our community - the City Planners, the Vietnamese commuity, the volunteers and all who prayed for this to become a reality. Very sincere thank you to Charles Watts and Ellis Edwards who began the immigration of the Vietnamese Community here!!! We now live here together because of their passion and un-dying work for FREEDOM!
